Barbara Mutch is a talented author, she lives in Surrey with her husband and two sons.  She spends time whenever possible at their home in the Cape.  A good portion of the year in her native South Africa in the Simonstown setting of the book to be precise.

Barbara will be discussing her inspiration for this better-sweet love story.

 Louise Ahrendts, daughter of a shipbuilder, nurtures the idea that through hard work she could step beyond a destiny of domestic service.  Simon’s Town is a vibrant and diverse community in a picturesque part of the Union of South Africa. At the heart of the town is the Royal Navy port. The heartfelt drama of Louise and David’s story is set against the trials of wartime and the approaching apartheid regime. Barbara’s existing fans are promised another ‘gripping and soul searching’ read (Leah Fleming).

The venue, The Pavilion is set in the beautiful gardens of Kelvin Grove with magnificent views.  There isn’t much to say about Kelvin Grove that one doesn’t already know… Magnificent architecture, excellent service and old world charm, makes up the many-faceted nature of this unique club, words that may spring to mind are history, heritage, tradition and excellence.

There is loads of parking available.

The menu is a starter and a main course with coffee to follow.  As always a Vegetarian option will be available.
