J.M. Coetzee said of Whoever Fears the Sea “An engagingly romantic, fast-paced tale of sailing-ship adventures off the myth-laden East African coast, with plenty of sex and action, plus a serious revisionist message regarding modern-day Somali piracy.”

Jennifer de Klerk said:  “This is the first novel from South African travel writer Justin Fox, a well-written, fast-paced read, lyrical in its descriptions and thought-provoking in its theme.
Paul Waterson, a journalist and scriptwriter, heads into Kenya to research a documentary on the Swahili maritime culture and, hopefully, get over the American girl who dumped him.”
